I enjoy having deserts and it just so happened that one came in the mail that got my attention, which was Tastkake Low Fat Raspberry Filled Koffee Kake Cupcakes. After I took my first bit I found the cupcakes were pretty moist. The coffee crumbs were like little chunks hit my taste buds, which I enjoyed immensely. Finally, the raspberry filling exploded in my mouth and really made this a great tasting desert.
The nutritional information was clearly labeled on the side of the dessert. Based on 2 cakes or one package the desert has 2.5g of fat, 230mg of sodium, 3g of protein, 37g of carbohydrates of which 25g are sugar. Clearly, the amount of carbohydrates and sugar was a huge concern.
The consumer information was average. They listed a website, allergic warning, 1-800 number and snail mail address. An expiration date was listed on the large box, but not on each individual package. We would have preferred to see the expiration date on each individual package.
Overall, I give Tastekake Low Fat Raspberry Filled Koffee Kake Cupcake a 400 DFC. I thought the desert was a little sweet, but tasted good. The nutritional information was alarming with the amount of carbohydrates in the sweet desert and in my opinion this is not diabetic friendly dessert. We had some minor suggestions on how to better improve their consumer information. I will not be including this in my diet based on the high amount of carbohydrates. In the future we will be exploring more of their products to see if we can find a happy medium with a good tasting product that has a lower sugar count.

Mixed Bag of Chocolate Chip Cookie
As many of you know, I am a huge fan of chocolate chip cookies. So, when Gluten Free Fabulous Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites arrived at my office, I immediately moved it up to the top of the list of foods to review. I thought the cookie was very dry and did not have much taste at all. The chocolate chips quickly melted as soon as they hit my mouth. The chocolate taste did not really knock my socks off. To be honest it was more like liquid chocolate then a chip.
The nutritional information was clearly listed on the back of the bag. Based on a serving size of 2 cookies: 7g of fat, 15mg of cholesterol, 105mg of sodium, 40mg of potassium, 1g of protein and 17g of carbohydrates of which 7g are sugar.
The consumer information was average. They included a website, expiration date and allergic information. I was impressed that they warned the consumer that the product is made using machinery that also used peanuts, soy and eggs. However, a snail mail address and 1-800 number was not listed, which was a disappointment.
Overall, I give Gluten Free Fabulous Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites a 350 DFC. I was not a fan of the taste of the cookie. The nutritional information was well done. The carbohydrates were a little bit of a concern based on the portion size. The consumer information needs some work on some of the information listed, but other information like the machine warning should be viewed as an example of a best practice for labeling. I am positive if they made some changes that were mentioned above they would receive a much higher rating.
