Sean Hughes has had type 1 diabetes for more than 10 years and knows the ups and downs of the disease. After he was diagnosed, he realized he had a tremendous challenge ahead. One major obstacle that he had to face was finding out how to incorporate different foods into his diet. Sean learned there was a lot of information on special diets for the person with diabetes, but there was no resource for people trying to find great-tasting, healthy foods that they could incorporate into their diet. His solution was the innovative website www.diabeticfoodcritic.com. When he was originally diagnosed, he did not have a place to use as a reference for what foods were healthy and taste good. In 2006, Sean created this website as a forum to critique different foods. He hopes that his website will fill the present void for diabetics and newly diagnosed diabetics who are looking for foods to expand their diet and those who have to begin a brand new diet. Sean encourages his readers for suggestions on food products to review and is open to suggestions on how to improve his website. He is an active member of the American Diabetes Association as an advocate and fundraiser. Sean is a graduate of Bloomfield College and a current resident of New Jersey.
