I received a call from Laura’s Lean Beef inquiring about the site and how they can receive a review. I informed them that all they had to do was to send me some samples and the DFC will take a look. So, we are taking a look this week at Laura’s Lean Beef Shredded Beef with BBQ sauce. I thought the portion size was pretty small. However, the meat tasted pretty good and the BBQ sauce was pretty strong in a nice way.
The nutritional information was clearly marked on the back of the package. Based on 5 oz it has 245 calories, 5g of fat, 65mg sodium, 65mg cholesterol, 390 mg sodium, 22g of protein, and 27g of carbohydrates including 10g of sugar.
The consumer information was a little above average. Laura’s listed a snail mail address, website, expiration date and 1-800 number. Also, they listed specific ingredients that were in the BBQ sauce, which I thought was pretty cool.
Overall, I give Laura’s Lean Beef Shredded Beef with BBQ Sauce a 200 DFC. I thought the beef had a great taste and was somewhat lean. The portion size was alright. I did like the fact that they listed the nutritional and consumer information petty well. I am glad they sent their product, since I could review it and I got a meal tonight when I thought I had to order in.
